Commonly Forgotten During A Move

Through the course of your home relocation- you desperately try to keep everything organised and clutter-free. But no matter how much you try, some items always get misplaced or forgotten in the chaos.

As much frustrating as it may seem- all this can be easily avoided by staying calm and preparing a move checklist! Remember that you are not the only one who tends to forget some items during a big move. And to help you remember, here are few commonly forgotten things.

Removalis

1) Items borrowed by your neighbours

First, in the list of commonly forgotten items during a house move are those items that you have borrowed from your neighbours. It may be a nut breaker or some kitchen appliance that you acquired some time ago and likely forgot to return before the move.

So, remember to return it to them, and if you have a habit of forgetting things, you can make a list, or write it down somewhere to fall back before the move day!

2) Gardening tools

They are typically located outside your home. And that makes it a common item that homeowners forget. Hoses, lawnmowers, weed cutters, etc. can be expensive to buy again. So, unless you are alright spending money like its nothing, don’t forget about them.

3) Keys

One of the most common items that are either forgotten or lost are keys. They may be keys to your car, cabinet, safe, or even your old houses. Losing them will cause difficulty later on.

You may have locked cupboards with belongings in them that is being hauled and taken to you new house, the house keys for both the old and new house, the car keys and keys to any other place or object are the first things that are to be misplaced. Not everyone pays attention to such important things when there are so many other things to consider. Therefore, it is essential for you to either have two sets of keys that you are to keep safe with you and other members of the family or store all possible keys in a particular box or a bag that you and other members of the family would remember of whenever in need. While doing this, you get to prevent the keys to get accidentally packed and then making you end up looking for the frantically and adding to the troubles.

4) Chargers & plug-ins

One thing that most homeowners tend to do is pack their large-sized or expensive items first- to avoid any damage. And if you have lots of heavy, fragile and expensive items and want to pack them first, it is very common to forget those little items like chargers, plug-ins or even headphones.

As little as they seem, your laptop and mobile phone/tablet cannot function without it. One wise idea would be to pack the device charger with the device and label it after sealing the boxes. This will help you remember that all-important parts and accessories of a specific device are packed along with it.

5) Household tools

This implies household tools such as hammers, nails, screwdrivers, etc. Usually, they should lie in the tool box, but, if you work with them in your garage, there’s a good chance that you have left it there and forgotten about it.

To avoid this, ensure all your household tools are safely tucked inside your toolbox- so when you pack it- everything tool goes with it!

6) Medicines & prescriptions

Though not all, but there are some medical prescriptions that you will require at some point. More so, if it belongs to an elderly member of your family who is under strict medication.

7) Your essentials box

It wouldn’t be possible for you to unpack your belongings the moment you get to your new house due to other chores associated. Well, you can always set aside a box that would contain all the essentials that you may want to use on the first day that you reach your new abode. This may contain clothing, cosmetics, toiletries, towels, mobile phone charger and any other thing that may seem essential for daily use.

8) Arrangements for your pets

If you have pets accompanying you during relocation, including cats or dogs, you are to ensure that you make arrangements for their essentials. Their food, water, the cage, leash and any other essentials that your pet would need. You may be able to adjust yourself to the new place without food and other essentials, but they may not get adapted to the same in such a short span of time.

9) Storing perishable food

The refrigerator is often the last thing that is packed by the removalists especially when there is food in it. You may have left food in the fridge because you would want to consume them before you leave. Well, you are to avoid doing that as you may often forget to eat during the relocation is being conducted and thus allowing the removalists on the Gold Coast to find things troublesome to pack the refrigerator with food in it. It would also be problematic to unpack the same at you new house and you would often find the food go bad and rotten.

10) Phone book or address books

Lastly, another frequently forgotten item during your big house move is the phonebook or address book. They are important as if you don’t want to leave behind all your important contacts behind. So, when preparing your packing checklist, also include this important item.

It’s baffling to find how many responsible homeowners forget these commonly used household items during their move day. One wise way is to make a proper checklist to ensure no item is left behind regardless of their move size.

I was deeply impressed by Pat's thorough & kind communication style when I made some inquiries. I had never experienced such friendly & informative responses from any other removalist companies I contacted before. On the day, Pat's guys arrived right on time. Te & the team did an amazing job for me. They were all very courteous and brilliantly fast & smart. I have hired many removalists before and experienced them stretching out time, damaging my furniture, and stopping work & smoking cigarettes for ages when I wasn't on-site. Pat's guys Te & the team worked incredibly hard and got the job done very well in half the time other companies' guys would have. I can highly recommend Richards Removals. Richards would tremendously reduce the enormous stress & hassle of your relocating. Pat, Te & the team, thank you very much!!

I would highly recommend using Richards, they moved me from my home into a storage unit. The two young men completed the move without an issue and in very efficient time. Ash and Jake were very personable and polite. I am using Richards again to move from the storage unit to the new house and have requested these two young gentlemen do the move. I was asked by a neighbour could I recommend someone for their move in January so I of course said Richards.
